Coach Fredericks has an extensive background in coaching, including eight years of basketball at Morgan Park Academy in southside Chicago, IL. As a baseball and basketball coach, he has learned a lot and has much to pass along to the young men he coaches.
As he says, "You are always in charge of your effort, sportsmanship, attitude and competitive drive." He brings this philosophy to his players and instills this in them when they compete, encouraging them to look beyond the scoreboard and to reflect on personal growth and successes gained as a team. He has had numerous coaches over the years make an impact in his life, and it is his mission to bring these values and presence to the young players he interacts with. He hopes, too, that he can one day have the impact on them that other coaches have had on him.
Cal Ripken Jr. is a player he greatly admires, particularly for his work ethic, day-to-day grind, and relentlessness as a player. He strives to teach his players these values and places an emphasis on growing and developing constantly to become the best player you can be. He hopes that what he brings to his players will carry them into their high school careers and help them experience success.
An interesting fact about Coach Fredericks is that he has attended Major League Baseball games in all 30 of the current Major League stadiums.
